I notice that we, as black people, keep useless things that we know that we don't need. We keep clothes know we aren't going to wear. Books and movies we aren't going to bother with again. We have dishes we use once and that's it. We even have magazines from years ago because, well, just because. Maybe it's from some subconscious loss that makes us hold on to things that are no longer useful to us. Maybe it comforts us to light weight hoard. Gives us some kind of sick kind of warmth. It could be that we were forced to a land we didn't know, and we are still treated, even today, with all the killings, like we don't belong, so we buy a bunch a crap and surround ourselves with it. It's ours. The land might not claim us, but we can claim this stuff.
I watch the Hoarders show and shows like it just so it would motivate me to throw some crap away, or give it away. I don't want to be like that. Don't have any clothes as it is right now.
Why do you think we have so much stuff, and always have bags with us? Men also?
